It's the only one album Railway Series, which so far takes place entirely on Skarloey railway. However, normal-sized tracks can be seen in some illustrations (most often when some characters are talking to each other), but none of the standard-gauge locomotives are moving or standing on them, and there is no picture of the North Western Railway.

Surprised nobody asked who Bruno was on this video, too. In case anybody sees this story before the first two, the Bruno mentioned here seems to be an original character, one of a few unusual 0-4-0 tank engine designs produced by Sentinel.

In an alternate universe, "Winter Engines" destroys the sales of Railway Series audiobooks when millions of tired children are jump-scared by a detonator as they try to fall asleep to what their parents believed to be an innocent bedtime story.
